CLASSES
Glasgow Acting Academy

GAA runs classes each week in both "Acting", and "Musical Theatre". Classes are 3 hours long and are run on an ongoing basis evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Both the "Acting" and "Musical Theatre" course are curriculum based with learning outcomes, and combine the pre-requisite components of their chosen disciplines such as comedy, drama, singing and dance.

Unlike similar oragnisations, GAA's classes are lead by a creative team who all have experience within the industry as professional performers as well as being qualified tutors.

Entry to classes is by assesment/audition only (except 5 - 7 years). The assesments/auditions are to ensure that potential students are offered palcement into a class which is appropriate to their ability as a means of maximising their learning potential and enjoyment. If at any stage a student does not feel comfortable within a specific class, GAA will endeavor to find a class that is more appropriate. All classes are subject to a maximum of 25 students.

Glasgow Acting Academy

Since 2006 GAA has been working in partnership with Motherwell College Department of Performing Arts. This means that students who study with GAA on a part-time basis, study for governement recognised qualifications which collectively results in students gaining their full NQ in Performing Arts after approximately 2/3 years of part-time study. On completing the NQ course students can progress directly to HNC level of study in Musical Theatre or Acting & Performance.

These qualifications are directly aimed at Musical Theatre (12-17 Years) and
Acting (14 - 17 Years) students. Most of the modules are assessed throughout class time, and are directly assessed by the class tutor.

GAA will endeavour to place new students within a class that is convenient to both parties, but cannot guarantee specific days/times. When the desired classes are not available to new students, GAA operates a waiting list system on a first come, first serve basis.

New students pay £99 for their first months tuition, uniform and registration fee for Live and Loud Agency. Fees are subsequently paid at £49.00 per month in advance by standing order or by direct payment (cash or cheque).

As of August 2008 Glasgow Acting Academy in partnership with Motherwell College Department of Performing Arts will offer school leavers and young people the opportunity to study on a full time basis on a NQ course in Performing Arts.

This course is aimed at those who have an interest in the theatre industry, enjoy performing and want to improve their confidence and social skills. The course is highly practical and students will be introduced to and assessed in all aspects of performance such as acting, voice and audition techniques, production, movement and dance and singing.Tutors assess each unit and a large amount of this assessment is ongoing during practical workshops.

Entry to this course is by audition only, students should prepare and perform a short monologue from a contemporary play. Regular attendance is essential for success and students should be ready to use their study time for group and individual rehearsals. Classes are held at the Glasgow Acting Academy studios.
